VIRUS : SERIES ONE
THE SKULLS IN THESE PAINTINGS INITIALLY REPRESENTED MYSELF WORKING IN THE HOSPITAL DURING THIS PANDEMIC. I'VE COME TO THE NOTION THAT THE SKULLS CAN ALSO REFER TO YOU OR ANYONE THAT HAS BEEN IN THE HOSPITAL DURING THESE EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TIMES. THE VARIOUS BACKGROUND COLORS REPRESENT THERMAL ENERGY AND DIFFERENT MOODS. THE COLORS OVER THE MOUTHS AND LOWER REGION OF THE SKULL REPRESENT THE VIRUS.

DROWNED
THERE ARE SEVERAL ELEMENTS IN THIS PAINTING THAT ONE WOULD SEE IN A HOSPITAL LIKE THE SYRINGE AND MASK. THE CONSTANT OVERLOAD OF VISUALS RELATES TO THE INTOXICATION OF TURMOIL BROUGHT ME TO THIS PAINTING. EVEN THOUGH THIS SUGGESTS WHAT ONE MAY SEE AS A FEELING OF DARKNESS IT STILL HAS A UNIQUE BEAUTY.

CAGED
THIS WORK HAS MANY BRUSH STROKES THAT RESEMBLE BRANCHES OR VESSELS, GIVING THE BIOLOGICAL FEELING THAT WAS INTENDED IN THIS WORK. THE ORGANIC FEELING IS CONSISTENT THROUGHOUT TO CREATE A DEEPER RELATIONSHIP WITH THE VIEWER, AS WE ARE HUMAN. THE TITLE FITS WITH THE SOFTLY PAINTED RIBCAGE WHICH SURROUNDS THE HEART. THE HEART CAN BE OBSERVED AS A SYMBOLIC MESSAGE OF A PERSON OR PEOPLE BEING TRAPPED INSIDE AND NOT ABLE TO LEAVE. LIKE FOR INSTANCE, THE SITUATION WITH MANY PATIENTS WITHIN THE HOSPITAL SETTING NOT ABLE TO LEAVE BECAUSE THEY ARE INFECTED WITH THE VIRUS.

THE ALMOST ENDLESS COLORS THAT SWIRL AROUND THE SKULL CAN ACCOUNT FOR HOW OUR WORLD IS SURROUNDED BY BEAUTIFUL
COLORS. THE SKULL IS DIRECTLY IN THE CENTER OF THE CANVAS TO GIVE A CONFRONTATIONAL FEELING TO THE VIEWER. THE VARIOUS COLORS ON THE SKULL ARE RELATED TO THERMAL ENERGY ASSOCIATED WITH PEOPLE IN DIFFERENT ENVIRONMENTS. THE SYRINGES ARE THE DARTS THAT HAVE MISSED THE SKULL, WHICH REFERS TO US. ALIVE
THE TEXTURAL STREAKS IN THE CENTER TO THE SIDES GIVE AN INTERESTING EFFECT DRAWING YOUR EYES ACROSS THE CANVAS. IT IS AN ABSTRACTION OF AN EKG ALSO KNOWN AS AN ELECTROCARDIOGRAM, WHICH IS A TEST THAT RECORDS THE STRENGTH AND TIMING OF ELECTRICAL ACTIVITY IN THE HEART. THE COLOR PALATE CONSISTS OF BEIGE, WHITE, BLACK, AND GRAY. THE CANVAS HAS MUCH DEPTH IN THAT THERE ARE FOUR LAYERS OF PAINT. AS IN THE TITLE, THIS PAINTING SHOWS AND FEELS VERY UP-LIFTING.

DAYS OF XRAYS : SERIES TWO
THESE PAINTINGS ARE AN ABSTRACTION OF A CHEST X-RAY THE MOST TAKEN X-RAY IN THE MEDICAL FEILD. DURING THIS PANDEMIC THE CHEST X-RAY HAS INCREASED IMMENSELY, SINCE THIS VIRUS ATTACKS THE LUNGS AND HEART. IN THE CENTER OF EACH PAINTING IS A DEPICTION OF THE RADIATION SYMBOL, THIS IS TO PAY HOMAGE TO THE RADIOLOGY STAFF AROUND THE WORLD. THE VIVID COLORS SURROUNDING THE CHEST OF EACH PAINTING IS A SUGGESTION THAT THE VIRUS HAS ENCOMPASSED THE BODY. EARLY ON, WHEN WE DIDN'T HAVE COVID-19 TESTS, THE FASTEST WAY TO DIAGNOSIS PATIENTS WAS WITH THE CHEST X-RAY.

PARTICLES IN MOTION
USING RADIOLOGY EQUIPMENT TO CAPTURE X-RAY IMAGERY OF THE BODY HAS A UNIQUE PROCESS BEHIND IT. I PAINTED THIS ABSTRACTION TO DEPICT THE BEAUTY OF PARTICLES FROM AN X-RAY BEAM ILLUMINATING ACROSS THE CANVAS. THE BRIGHT BLUE, GREEN, AND YELLOW HUES SUGGESTS HIGH VELOCITY AND ENERGY, SYMBOLIZING POWER AND STRENGTH.

RADIOACTIVE WORLD
OUR WORLD ALREADY HAS RADIATION THAT EXTENDS FROM SPACE AND IT IS AROUND US IN THE FORM OF RADIOACTIVE ELEMENTS IN OUR SOIL. OUR BODIES RECEIVE RADIATION FROM THE SUN, FOOD, WATER, AND EVEN OXYGEN. HOSPITALS USE RADIATION FOR TAKING X-RAYS AND CT SCANS. THE ISSUE WITH RADIATION IS WHEN YOU ARE OVER EXPOSED TO IT, THIS CAN CAUSE HARM TO THE BODY BY CAUSING MUTATIONS WHICH IN TURN CAN EVEN CAUSE DEATH. IN THIS PAINTING I WANTED TO BRING AN AWARENESS TO THIS ISSUE. I HAVE PAINTED A SYMBOLIC SUN AT THE APEX OF THE CANVAS SHOWING MULTIPLE VIBRANT COLORS OF RED, ORANGE, GREEN, AND BLUE EXTENDING TO EARTH. THESE COLORS HAVE A GLOWING EFFECT TO SHOW HOW RADIATION CAN COVER THE EARTH'S SURFACE.

THESE PAINTINGS BRING AWARENESS TO GENETIC MUTATIONS THAT CAN DEVELOP IN HUMANS. WE ARE STILL TRYING TO UNDERSTAND HOW AND WHERE MUTATIONS OCCUR. THE USE OF TEXTURE CREATES DEPTH IN THE CENTER OF THE CANVASES. THE MULTIPLE VIBRANT COLORS GUIDE THE VIEWERS EYES AROUND THE ORGANIZED COMPOSITIONS.

BONE TEXTURE STUDY
RESEARCH INTO BONE TEXTURE CAN HELP IMPROVE MANY SKELETAL STRUCTURE DISEASES. LIKE OSTEOPOROSIS, WHICH IS THE THINNING OF BONES. BETTER MEDICATIONS AND DIETS COULD BE PRODUCED TO HELP PEOPLE WITH DISEASES LIKE THIS. CREATING A WAY TO STRENGTHEN OUR BONES AS WE AGE COULD LITERALLY HELP US LIVE LONGER. IN THIS PAINTING, MY INTENT IS TO SHOW OVERLAPPING TEXTURES OF VARYING STROKES IN MONOCHROMATIC COLORS TO GIVE THE PAINTING AN AESTHETIC APPROACH THAT I FIND MORE APPROPRIATE IN RELATION TO THE COLOR OF OUR SKELETAL STRUCTURE. THE MOST IMPORTANT ELEMENT TO ME, THAT I WANTED THE VIEWER TO APPRECIATE IS THE DEPTH OF TEXTURES APPLIED TO THE CANVAS WHICH IS APPROXIMATELY TEN LAYERS.

MANY FACES OF US : SERIES FOUR
EACH SKULL REPRESENTS PEOPLE LIKE YOURSELF OR ANYONE. WE ARE ALL UNIQUE IN THAT WE COME FROM DIFFERENT BACKGROUNDS, WE HAVE DIFFERENT MENTALITIES, AND SOULS. THE SKULLS SHOW HOW MUCH WE ARE ALIKE IN THAT WHEN WE ARE ALL BARE BONES WE ARE ESSENTIALLY THE SAME, OUR SKELETAL STRUCTURE IS PRACTICALLY IDENTICAL. EACH CANVAS HAS DIFFERENT COLORS TO REPRESENT VARIOUS EMOTIONS. WITH THESE PAINTINGS I INTEND FOR THE VIEWER TO TAKE A DEEP LOOK AND THEN TAKE A TIMEOUT FOR YOURSELF.

THE COMPOSITIONAL ELEMENTS OF THE VINES AND LEAVES IN RELATION TO THE SYRINGES MELODICALLY BOUNCES AROUND THE CANVAS IN A UNIQUE, BUT VERY BALANCED WAY. THE MULTITUDE OF GREEN COLORS SYMBOLIZES LIFE AND THE GOLD COLORS SYMBOLIZES COURAGE. THE SYRINGES REPRESENT HOPE IN THAT THIS CAN BE A WAY OF PROTECTION.

PHARMACEUTICAL FOG
THE SPATIAL ELEMENTS IN THIS PAINTING REPRESENT PRESCRIPTION DRUGS AND THE MENTAL TOLL IT TAKES ON A PERSON. THE PILLS ARE BLUE, YELLOW, AND PURPLE WHICH IS AN AESTHETIC APPROACH IN THAT I SEE THESE AS POPULAR COLORS FOR PILLS. THESE COLORS HAVE A SOFTNESS AS WELL, WHICH WORKS WITH THE FOGGINESS PERSPECTIVE. SOME DOCTORS PRESCRIBE MEDICATIONS WHEN IT'S NOT NECESSARY AND ONLY DO SO FOR FINANCIAL GAIN, SHOWING A DARK BUSINESS SIDE IN HEALTH CARE.

IN THESE PAINTINGS I HAVE ABSTRACTLY DISPLAYED THE ACTION OF AN X-RAY BEAM SHOOTING THROUGH THE DIFFERENT BONE DENSITIES OF THE THE HUMAN SKELETAL STRUCTURE. THIS IS A MAGNIFIED PERSPECTIVE TO GIVE A MORE INSPECTIVE VIEW TO CREATE CURIOSITY.

THE SKELETAL BEING (A DONOR) IS A SYMBOL FOR SOMEONE IN DEATH PROVIDING THEMSELVES TO HELP ANOTHER PERSON IN NEED TO LIVE. THE HEART CAN REPRESENT ANY ORGAN OR BLOOD AS A SYMBOL THAT WILL HELP THE RECIPIENT IN NEED. THE BLUE HUES IN THE PAINTING GIVE A SENSE OF COMFORT, THE BACKGROUND COLORS OF GOLD AND BROWN GIVE THE PAINTING AN AGED AESTHETIC THAT I INTENDED IT TO HAVE.

BIRDS WITH IN THE ELECTROMAGNETIC SPECTRUM
THIS DEPICTION CAME TO ME FROM MY BACKYARD AND SEEING BIRDS FLYING AND SITTING ON ELECTRIC CABLES. WATCHING THESE BIRDS FROM MY BACKYARD HAS A CALMING AFFECT ON ME. THE BIRDS ARE DISPROPORTIONATE WITH ONE ANOTHER, AS WELL AS THE LIGHT POLES. THE IRREGULARITY IN SIZE AND DIMENSION GIVES THE PAINTING A DREAM LIKE QUALITY. THE VERY BRIGHT MULTITUDE OF COLORS REPRESENTS THE ELECTROMAGNETIC SPECTRUM AND ADDS TO THE DREAM ELEMENT. THE ELECTROMAGNETIC SPECTRUM INCLUDES MANY WAVE LENGTHS AND THE ONE THAT RELATES TO MY OCCUPATION IS X-RAYS.

FRACTURED REFLECTION : INTERNAL CANVAS OF AN ARTIST
THIS IS THE FIRST SCULPTURE IN THE BIOEXPRESSIONISM COLLECTION. THE SCULPTURE DISPLAYS A PAINTED MIRROR ON A PAINTED EASEL. THE EASEL WAS USED BY THE ARTIST IN ALL OF THE ABOVE PAINTINGS. THE MIRROR IS THE CANVAS IN THIS WORK. IT IS A PHYSICAL AND EMOTIONAL VISUALIZATION OF THE ARTIST HIMSELF. HENCE, THE MIRROR SYMBOLIZES A REFLECTION OF THE ARTIST. THE VARIOUS COLORS OF GREEN, BLUE, GOLD, AND BLACK REFER TO THE ARTIST IN DIFFERENT PERIODS OF HIS LIFE.

THE ELEMENTS IN THIS PAINTING EACH HAVE A SIGNIFICANT MEANING TO TIE THE PAINTING TOGETHER. THE FISH FACING UPWARD IS A SYMBOLIC MEANING OF HAVING GOOD LUCK IN LIFE. ON THE LEFT, ARE BUILDINGS THIS SIGNIFIES HOW OPEN OUR WORLD IS TO THE PUBLIC. THE VARIOUS BRIGHT COLORS SWIRLING AROUND THE ELEMENTS REPRESENT SOUND WAVES IN WATER. MANKIND'S POLITICAL DIVIDE : SERIES SIX
THERE ARE SIX INDIVIDUAL CANVASES WITH IN A SHADOWBOX. THE FIRST STARTING FROM YOUR LEFT HAS A FADED LOOKING MASK, THE SECOND HAS A FADED SKULL WITH MASK, THE THIRD HAS AN IRREGULAR MEDICAL GLOVE, THE FOURTH HAS A SKULL WITH MEDICAL GOGGLES, THE FIFTH HAS A RED CROSS SYMBOL, AND THE SIXTH HAS A FADED SYRINGE. THESE ARE ALL ELEMENTS THAT I SEE AN OVERLOAD OF DUE TO MY JOB POSITION IN THE HOSPITAL. THE NUMBERS ON EACH CANVAS REFLECTS HOW OUR SOCIETY IS ALWAYS ABOUT REVENUE AND POLITICS. CROSSING THE CENTER OF EACH CANVAS HAS A GOLDEN LINE DIVIDING IT. THIS LINE, IS A SYMBOL OF OUR DIVISION WITH SCIENCE AND POLITICS, AND HOW THESE TWO TOPICS ARE COMBINED IN THE MEDIA.

IDA'S CRYING ROSES
THE THREE ROSES DEPICTED IN THIS PAINTING ARE STRATEGICALLY PLACED TO DRAW YOUR EYES ACROSS THE CANVAS. THE ROSES REPRESENT LIFE, PEOPLE, AND HOW WE SURVIVE UNDER SEVERE SITUATIONS. THE WHITE STROKES ACROSS THE CANVAS CREATE A SENSE OF MOTION.

THERE ARE THREE CANVASES THAT DEPICT TREES ON THE FOREGROUND AND IN THE BACKGROUND THERE ARE ENDLESS STRAWBERRY FIELDS. THE TOP MIDDLE CANVAS DEPICTS A LARGE STRAWBERRY THAT ALSO, IS HEART LIKE IN APPEARANCE, THIS IS THE CENTER FORCE THAT CONTROLS THE FIELDS AND BRINGS LIFE.

GRAVITY FALLS
THE MOST INTERESTING STEP INTO CREATING THIS PAINTING WAS THE FIVE MINUTES IN WHICH, I LET RAIN HIT THE CANVAS, AFTER CAREFULLY APPLYING PAINT. THE RAIN HELP CREATE A BLENDING OF THE DIFFERENT PAINT COLORS THAT BECAME THE BRIGHT BACKGROUND.
